I live in a large city. This means I am regularly on public transit, in a store, at a movie etc. Whenever I am out there and am witness to the sneezing, coughing and hacking of those with a cold (or worse) I am taken aback at their lack of consideration for the rest of us.
Friends of mine were at a play the other day and were accosted by a germ-ridden moron. By accosted I simply mean this guy sat next to them and sniffled his way through the entire show. Not only was the sound of the constant snot sucking itself an unpleasant distraction (which is bad enough), but the constant release of the cold virus into the air speaks to the inconsiderate nature of so many people.
If you have a cold or flu, stay home! I realize that many feel the have to go to work regardless of their health because of pressure from an unsympathetic boss (idiot bosses are another topic), but if you are not subject to a fool in charge, can you not see that going out there with a cold and potentially infecting everyone else is beyond rude?
I say beyond rude because there are some people out there who are more susceptible than others and, in the case of flu, can have their very lives threatened by your lack of care for anyone but yourself. That’s right, if you are sick there may be someone who could die because of you. It has happened with certain strains of flu, some of which start as a cold which compromises the immune system. Then the flu virus gets in.
So all I can say is hey, you with cold, have some care for the rest of us and stay home!!
